My name is Joe Gilder. I’m a musician and recording engineer, and I run the popular home recording website HomeStudioCorner.com.
As I was getting ready to mix my latest album, I thought, “It would be really cool to share these multi-tracks with other home studio owners. They could mix the songs themselves; I could show them how I mixed the songs, and everyone could share their mixes with each other.”
A few days later, MixWithUs.com was born, and a community of home studio owners, eager to make their mixes better, emerged.
MixWithUs members improve their mixing skills by going through the following cycle:
If you’re going to improve your mixes, you need to start mixing…a LOT. With every mix you finish, you’ll get a little bit better. Mix whatever you can get your hands on.
As a MixWithUs member, I’ll provide you with lots of multi-track audio files, so you can dive in and get your hands dirty mixing song after song.
Practicing by itself isn’t enough for a lot of people. You may not know where to start. You might get stuck along the way. You want to know how someone else would mix that song.
As a MixWithUs member, I will guide you through how I mixed each of the songs, so you can see exactly what I did to achieve the sound I was going for. (All through the members-only downloadable videos.)
Whether you’re mixing for practice, for yourself, or for a client, feedback is crucial.
As a MixWithUs member, you will be able to post your mixes within the members area and get valuable feedback from both myself and the other members. This is by far the favorite feature of MixWithUs among current members.
Mix With Us is a 10-week program, where I give you behind-the-scenes access to my latest album, which was recorded and mixed by me entirely in my home studio.
Each week you’ll automatically receive the multi-track audio files to one of the songs, followed by the corresponding tutorial video.
As a member, you’ll receive access to the private, members-only area, where you’ll find:
If you want better mixes, you need to practice, right? Right. How about I send you material once a week to practice on? Sound good? Good.
But you don’t need to stress over having to come up with an entire album of material to practice on. I’ve done the work FOR you. I recorded all the songs. Now YOU can get the practice you need to become a more confident mix engineer.
The most frustrating thing about mixing tutorial videos is learning how to apply what you learned to your own mixes. It’s all guess-work.
As a Mix With Us member, you will avoid this frustration ENTIRELY, because we will both be mixing the exact same song.
In these weekly video tutorials (each of them is around one hour long), I’ll walk you through how I mixed each song. You’ll be “looking over my shoulder” as I share all the fun little details and challenges that went into mixing each song.
These videos are all HD Quicktime movies. You’ll download them to your computer and watch at your convenience. Wanna watch at 3am in your pajamas? No problem.
What’s the point of watching a tutorial video if you can’t ask questions? You won’t be alone. As you work through the material, at any point you can ask a question by leaving a comment in the members area. You can work with confidence, knowing that if you have a frustrating problem, I’ll be there to answer your questions.
“I worked on my mix. I watched this week’s video. I hope I’m doing this right.” As a Mix With Us member, you don’t have to worry. Each week you can post your mix of that week’s song to the Listening Room, where you’ll get invaluable feedback and practical advice from me and your fellow members that you can actually use to improve your mixing technique.
In addition to everything listed above, you’ll also have access to the following bonuses:
One of the most unique things about MixWithUs.com is that everything was done in my home studio. The tracks were recorded in my home studio. The mix was done in my home studio. No professional, high-end studio rooms or pieces of equipment were used.
Why is this a good thing? Because chances are you are recording in a home studio as well, which means you have to deal with things like noise, poor acoustics, less-than-perfect equipment, etc. All of these are issues I deal with daily, and in these videos, I’ll show you how you can deal with them.
I’ll show you how I used automation on a high-frequency shelf EQ to get rid of noise on the final fade-out of a song. I’ll show you how to use EQ to get rid of all the muddiness of your tracks and bring out clarity and punch.
You’re not getting professional tracks recorded and mixed by a Grammy Award-winning engineer. You’re getting tracks recorded and mixed in a home studio just like yours. That’s the beauty of MixWithUs.com. You will learn how to get great-sounding mixes in YOUR home studio.

Do any songs have full band production? Yes, the songs vary from acoustic guitar and vocals only to a full-on rock production with drums, bass, electric guitars, etc. It’s a really versatile album.
